So it's been a while since I've had time to update things here. Graduation took over everything, it even trumped sleep. Really enjoyed working on my demo reel though, and here is the result. Here's a few still renders I have so far, and the demo itself.

I've been pretty busy lately getting work done on my demo reel, but got some time to save out a test render of the car. Simple lighting rig, low quality AO on the outside of the car. Car paint shader still needs a little bit of work. I'll have some interior test renders this weekend.

Quick update on some more textures that are ready to go. Here is the wheel setup I have. It's a bit dark because this is just default lighting, so once everything is complete, it will be easier to see the bump on the sidewall. Next up is the paint scheme, then a layer of dirt on everything.

Here are some quick renders I have of some of the textured pieces on the car. I will be finishing up some more textures tomorrow, and then comes some brainstorming for a wile rally paint scheme for this beast!

My current project is a 2007 Subaru STi rally car. This has been in progress for a few months now, and is near completion. I am currently working on textures which will be done in the next few days. I do not have any renders of the recent progress, but here is how it has taken it's shape! New renders will be coming soon!

Here is a collection of a few models I created in my first year of school between July 2008 and June 2009.

Here is my first environment. This was created using assets mostly created by myself, with various props and buildings created by fellow students in my class. The foreground buildings are my own. Thanks to Liviu Antonescu for the Lancia Delta in the foreground. The Datsun on the left was downloaded from Turbosquid.

This is a render I took approximately 6 months ago when I relit it for another class.

Here is the first vehicle asset I created. It is a Peterbilt 359. Final poly count is a hair under 20000, and all the textures are custom painted. I plan to revisit the model and retexture it for more realism in the near future.

Following the Peterbilt, I decided to try my hand at a custom car. I designed this car off of some thumbnails, and reworked the overall shape after blocking out the body. Over a 2 week period, here is the result.

Here is the car rendered a few months ago for a lighting class. I may still go back and UV the car and texture it properly. The textures on the car were only there to replace the default grey shader.

Hello everyone! My name is Chris Stefiuk, and I am currently a student at The Art Institute of Vancouver. I am studying 3D Modeling for Animation and Games.

Back in the spring of 2008, I decided I would go back to school to pursue something I had a passion for, video games. I quickly learned I was very curious about how the art in video games was created, and really wanted to be a part of it. As I gained more experience with Maya, and saw what kind of work was being made, I narrowed my focus down to vehicles, hard surface models, and environments. I opened my opportunities as well, realizing I would be interested in working for film, animation, video games, and 3D architecture.

This blog is my way of sharing my work with everyone. If you like what you see, have any suggestions, or any comments, I'd love to hear them!
